TEC Center Offers Assistance to ITT Tech Students
Switzerland County Welcomes SIILC
Switzerland County has been selected as a site for Eleven Fifty Academy’s “Cool Coding Awareness Week”. The hosts for the week are the Switzerland County Technology and Education Center and the Switzerland County Economic Development Corporation.
Eleven Fifty Academy has created a comprehensive education pathway program that starts with a weeklong blitz called Cool Coding Awareness Week which delivers age-appropriate content to students in the Switzerland County School Corporation. The week concludes with Eleven Fifty Academy’s “Introduction to Coding” course, which imparts basic, introductory-level knowledge of computer coding.
Fostering students’ coding knowledge and growing their coding interests, Eleven Fifty Academy exists to help close the nation’s growing technology skills gap by creating an ecosystem of coding talent that benefits the individual, their employer and their community.
Indiana has documented evidence of a 50% increase in demand for software and application developers. This trend continues to increase as coding skills needed by employers is growing. Nationally, 6 out of 10 new jobs in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) are being created in computer coding.
The Introduction to Coding course will be held at the Switzerland County Technology and Education Center, 708 W. Seminary Street, Vevay on Saturday, Oct. 8 and Sunday, October 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thanks to the generosity of the Vevay-Switzerland County Foundation, the course is free to Switzerland County residents. Others are welcome to register for the course for a fee of $175. This course normally costs $400 when offered by the Eleven Fifty Academy. A light continental breakfast, refreshments, and lunch will be provided to participants. Seating is limited. To register for this course, email [email protected] or call 812-427-4475, and provide your name, phone number, and email address.
