Duke Energy to Become Newest Tenant at Markland Business Park
The Switzerland County Technology and Education Center has partnered with the Clearinghouse of Jefferson County and the Labor Institute for Training (LIFT) to provide short term, skill-specific training to residents of Switzerland County.
LIFT offers training in Advanced Manufacturing, ACT WorkKeys and NCRC, Basic Computer, Community Construction Career Readiness Collaboration (3CRC), IC3 Certification, Fiber Optics, JAVA, and Telecommunication/Networking.
Unlike other traditional training providers, LIFT can offer training services to small numbers of participants. Instead of requiring 12-20 people for a training class, LIFT courses are tailored to groups as small as 5 participants. This allows classes to run when the student is ready, rather than requiring them wait for a large enough cohort to form.
Earlier this year, the TEC Center hosted a required site visit by LIFT and an Indiana Department of Workforce Development official. Once all other requirements are met and approvals obtained, LIFT can begin serving Switzerland County residents through the TEC Center. The program could see its first Switzerland County students before the end of 2017.
